PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimrex Jaca (ranked 3002 p4p, 109 weight class) and Ray Vision (ranked 3734 p4p, 133 weight class). Jaca comes to the cage accompanied by Twinkle-twinkle little star. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jaca swings widly with a right hand
and Vision counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Jimrex Jaca has been cut.
Jaca misses with a hook.
Vision motions for Jaca to come forward. Vision throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Vision on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Vision throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Jaca to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Ray Vision has been cut.
Jaca checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
A big left from Jaca misses.
And Vision tries to counter it with a takedown but Jaca pushes his down on his head and steps out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Jaca counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Vision jabs Jaca right on the nose. Jaca blinks but takes it well.

Vision tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jaca just stands there and leans against the cage.

Jaca has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Vision bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jaca's guard.

Vision controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jaca looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

My spies in Touch Of Death Combat Academy inform me that Vision has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jaca is squirming around, avoiding Vision's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ray Vision dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Jaca throws a nice looking combination but Vision bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vision throws a fast counter high kick but Jaca manages to duck under it in time.

Vision keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jaca's efforts to push away.
Jaca has Vision pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vision manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Vision jumps guard and drags Jaca to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jaca would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Jaca got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vision has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jaca has managed to get both his arms back between Vision's legs - danger averted.
Vision wants to stand and escape but Jaca is having none of it.
Vision looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Vision uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jaca.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jaca throws a body shot but no joy.
Jaca swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vision gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jaca is trying to push Vision away but Vision has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Vision wants a takedown but no success here.
Vision lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vision connects with a nice short shot to Jaca's temple.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vision working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
