PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Alaba (ranked 3179 p4p, 374 weight class) and Mateusz Biernat (ranked 4808 p4p, 472 weight class). Biernat has chosen I'm mothafookin beast as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mateusz Biernat!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Biernat dives in and scores a takedown into Alaba's guard.
Alaba keeping moving, preventing Biernat from controlling successfully.

Biernat drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Alaba dives on top into guard.

Alaba tries to stand but Biernat is controlling from the bottom.
Biernat utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Alaba trying to control but Biernat is working from the bottom.

Biernat looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Biernat had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Alaba defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Biernat looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Alaba connects with a couple of short punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Biernat bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alaba's guard.

Alaba is looking to stand up but Biernat isn't so interested in that idea.

Biernat tries to free his leg and advance position but Alaba is retaining full guard.

Alaba is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Biernat gets his way!

Biernat drops back looking for a leg! Alaba is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alaba manages to kick Biernat off! Biernat jumps back into Alaba's guard.

Biernat drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alaba manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Biernat has Alaba in his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Biernat throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Alaba escapes and throws Biernat's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Biernat sneaks back into half guard.

Biernat manages to escape and get back to his feet!

David Alaba has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mateusz Biernat is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
