Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hiroshi Papo (ranked 4520 p4p, 358 weight class) and Oliver King (ranked 4786 p4p, 366 weight class). Hiroshi Papo has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroshi Papo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oliver King!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King lands with an overhand left.
King thuds his right hand into Papo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
King lands the left hand.
Papo takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Papo drops his hands momentarily and King takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Good standup being displayed there by King as he connects with a hook.
King fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
King scores with a hook.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
King cracks Papo with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Papo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into King's guard.
Papo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Papo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down King for as long as he can get away with.

Papo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Papo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Papo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Papo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
King is looking to control Papo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can King avoid being mounted?
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Papo in particular looking to stall.

King tries to roll over but Papo keeps him under control.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Papo is stinking the place up with his stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
King lands a right hook to the body.
King's corner calls for a 1-2. King obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Papo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. King was covering up waiting for the punch and Papo finishes the takedown easily into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oliver King dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

King is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Papo dives into side control.

Papo cracks King with a big right hand but King just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King seems a little lost for a moment, as Papo dominates the positioning.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Papo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
King lands a right hook to the body.

Papo takes one to the chin there.
King cracks Papo with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
King has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
King cracks Papo with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

King gets caught flat footed, as Papo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
King is wriggling around but Papo manages to pass to half guard.
Hiroshi Papo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Papo thows a huge punch but King dodges it nicely.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Papo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Papo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Papo works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Papo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
King is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Papo scores with a couple of nice shots.
Papo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hiroshi Papo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King lands an overhand right.
Papo tries for a takedown but King circles away easily
and King connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
King connects with a right hand. Papo shakes it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Papo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches King napping and manages to drive through into side control!
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Papo is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down King's shoulder. That is not cool.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hiroshi Papo.
I think Papo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
