PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Topias Raja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dilbert The D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raja comes to the ring accompanied by Sail by Armin Van Buuren. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Topias Raja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dilbert The D!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raja tries to close the distance and clinch but The D swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by The D.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The D wants to control but Raja is keeping him busy.
The D happy to just control the position for now.

The D wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Raja, who protects the arm well.
Raja really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Raja wants to control but The D postures up.

The D is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Raja knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The D trying to control the position but Raja is working away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The D in side control, just content to control the action for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Raja is not content to let The D control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The D closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The D content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dilbert The D dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


The fight stays on the outside here - Raja looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Raja with a lazy takedown attempt
and The D counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Raja is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The D trying to control but Raja is working from the bottom.

Raja has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but The D has passed into side control.

The D controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The D is looking to take a break and control but Raja is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The D shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Raja but Raja pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The D fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The D misses with a low kick.
Raja darts in trying to clinch

and The D counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The D postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Raja trying to keep a closed guard but The D is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dilbert The D showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Raja tries to clinch but fails miserably

and The D counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The D is trying to control the action in half guard but Raja is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The D seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The D wants to control but Raja is keeping him busy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The D trying to advance position but Raja counters by regaining guard.
The Dis looking to pass into half guard but Raja pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Raja is in guard.
Raja stays in close to The D's body and controls the position.
Raja trying to control but The D is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The D wants to stand and escape but Raja is having none of it.
Raja wanted to stand there but The D had control of the position.
The D looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Raja puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Raja is trying to control. The D wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The D tries to get to full guard but Raja has control of the leg.
Raja is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Raja wants to lay and pray for a moment but The D keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Topias Raja has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The D is looking to take a break and control but Raja is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dilbert The D comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got The D winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
