Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Rutten (ranked 5753 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Mordino (ranked 2697 p4p, 0 weight class). Sebastian Rutten has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Sebastian Rutten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 20 - 1, fighting out of London, Victor Mordino!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mordino shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mordino is keen to just control but Rutten is a slippery customer.

Mordino is looking for a kimura here.
Mordino is trying to control the action in half guard but Rutten is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rutten keeping hold of Mordino's head, controlling as best he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mordino is thwarting Rutten's attempts to control the position.
Rutten is pressing down on Mordino's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Mordino makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Rutten clinches up with Mordino and pushes him back against the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rutten has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Mordino is trying to keep an underhook but Rutten manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Rutten seems to be looking for submissions.

It looks like Rutten is going to stand back up.
Rutten wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mordino keeps working.

Rutten seems to be working for a kimura but Mordino defends the submission attempt.
Rutten seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mordino does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mordino is trying to stand back up but Rutten is controlling him

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mordino is looking for a sweep. Rutten is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rutten is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mordino has managed to free his arm - good work.
Rutten throwing shots but Mordino is blocking nicely.

Rutten prevents Mordino from improving his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rutten.
A nice side step and Mordino releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mordino stuns Rutten with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Rutten shoots in for a takedown but Mordino shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mordino unleashes a big counter combination but Rutten bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
You can see the frustration on Mordino's face as Rutten controls the position.
Rutten looks up at the clock and then as Mordino takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Rutten smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Rutten postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Rutten is looking to take a break and control but Mordino is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mordino sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Mordino has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Mordino wants to get back to his feet.

Rutten is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mordino doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rutten.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mordino takes a swing at Rutten's ribcage but misses.
Victor Mordino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mordino darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Rutten is controlling Mordino's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Rutten wants to get back to full guard.
Rutten is doing well to control the position and prevent Mordino from advancing to side control.
Mordino wants to take a breather but Rutten is having none of it.
Mordino is thwarting Rutten's attempts to control the position.
Mordino looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Mordino postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rutten is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mordino, into his guard.

Rutten forces Mordino back against the cage and clinches.
Rutten is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mordino can do to turn this around?
Rutten wants to take the fight to the mat but Mordino manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Rutten jumps guard and drags Mordino to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Rutten is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mordino drives through with a takedown into Rutten's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Mordino tries to free his leg and advance position but Rutten is retaining full guard.

Mordino drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rutten manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mordino has Rutten in his guard.

Rutten is pushing down on Mordino's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mordino is fighting to maintain full guard but Rutten has managed to sneak the leg through.
Sebastian Rutten is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Rutten wants to control but Mordino is keeping him busy.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rutten, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
