PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Bower (ranked 2018 p4p, 240 weight class) and Matt Kristo (ranked 1882 p4p, 229 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Patrick Bower!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Kristo!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Bower. That snapped Kristo's head back.


It looks like Matt Kristo has been cut.
Kristo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kristo throws a big shot that misses.
Bower lands a high kick!
Kristo is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Kristo darts in trying to clinch
enabling Bower to counter with a crisp jab.
Bower throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nice body punch from Bower.
Kristo takes one to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bower dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Bower tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kristo was well out of range. Poor timing from Bower.

Kristo pushes Bower up against the cage in a clinch.
Kristo throws an elbow but it misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bower breaks from the clinch.
Bower misses with a body kick.
Bower lands with a right hand.
Kristo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kristo wants to clinch but Bower slips to the side
and Bower makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Bower fails to land with a series of punches.
Kristo is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kristo. Bower does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bower throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Kristo looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Kristo misses with a body shot.
Kristo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bower makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Bower connects with a body shot.
We've been told by Bower's head coaches at Blanc Fitness Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kristo checks a leg kick.
Bower darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kristo misses with a straight right.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bower fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kristo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bower manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bower is looking to counter punch.
Kristo moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Bower throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kristo swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Bower throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kristo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bower counters with a nice uppercut.
Kristo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kristo moves forwards but Bower connects with a nice, crisp jab.


Kristo is rocked!
Bower lands a brutal uppercut that launches Kristo off his feet! Kristo tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Patrick Bower!
During a confident post fight interview, Patrick Bower thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
