Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Champman's waist but Champman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Penn off to one side.
Penn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Champman circles away.
Penn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Champman as he jumps to the side.
Neville Champman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Penn.

Penn tries to get back to half guard but can't.
A lull in the action here as Champman stalls from top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Champman is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Penn can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Champman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Penn paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Champman tries to score a body lock takedown but Penn shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

BJ Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Champman gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Penn drops back looking for a leg! Champman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Champman manages to kick Penn off! Penn jumps back into Champman's guard.

Penn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Champman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Penn is looking to control Champman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Penn avoid being mounted?

Champman passes the guard and advances to mount!
Penn keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Penn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Penn.

Champman avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Penn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
BJ Penn has got the better of the ground game so far.

Penn has his foot on Champman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Champman works his way back into a safe position though.

Champman wants the takedown. Penn is fighting it off but Champman persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Penn's guard against the cage.

Penn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Champman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Champman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Penn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Champman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Penn pushes a forearm under Champman's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Champman is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). BJ Penn!
