Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Angel Diaz (ranked 3405 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Peyton (ranked 2793 p4p, 0 weight class). Royce Peyton is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jose Angel Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Royce Peyton!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz swinging wildly here.

Peyton gets the takedown into side control.

Diaz pushes Peyton away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Peyton gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Peyton decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Peyton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Peyton remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Diaz tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Diaz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Peyton is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Diaz is defending well though. Peyton let's go of the attempt for now.

Royce Peyton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Diaz cracks Peyton with a hook to the temple - Peyton is on wobbly legs here! Diaz swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Peyton falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Diaz wins by TKO!
