Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Liam McKnight (ranked 3950 p4p, 406 weight class) and Alex Willenbring (ranked 4964 p4p, 454 weight class). Willenbring has chosen Metallica - The Thing that should not be as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alex Willenbring!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Willenbring shoots in for a takedown but McKnight shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Willenbring moves into the clinch.
McKnight goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Willenbring has McKnight pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McKnight manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Willenbring has McKnight pressed against the cage.
Willenbring fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Liam McKnight has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Willenbring.
Willenbring tries to break free but McKnight pushes him back against the cage.

McKnight breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Willenbring swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and McKnight counters by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McKnight landing knees to the head.
Willenbring is trying to break the clinch but McKnight has him pressed against the cage.

McKnight breaks from the clinch.
Willenbring gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McKnight counters with a crisp one two that drops Willenbring! McKnight thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Willenbring to his feet! Willenbring is in big trouble!

Willenbring is rocked!

McKnight fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Willenbring, pushing him back against the cage.
Willenbring is still on wobbly legs! Can McKnight finish him?
Willenbring has had enough of the clinch but McKnight keeps him there for the moment.

McKnight has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Willenbring uses from the top position.

McKnight uses the cage to get back to his feet.
McKnight will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Willenbring seems to have recovered his senses.
McKnight showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Willenbring.
Willenbring is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

McKnight clinches up with Willenbring and pushes him back against the cage.
McKnight keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Willenbring's efforts to push away.
Willenbring blocking some punches.
McKnight lands with a short shot to the head.

Willenbring tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
McKnight keeps control of Willenbring as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Willenbring goes for a takedown attempt but McKnight pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

McKnight clinches up with Willenbring and pushes him back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Willenbring wants to take the fight to the mat but McKnight manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

McKnight pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McKnight thuds his shin into the meat of Willenbring's side.
Willenbring looks winded!
Willenbring walks forward, straight into a front kick from McKnight.

McKnight gets the takedown into side control.
Willenbring wants to control but McKnight postures up.

McKnight tries for a kimura but Willenbring is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McKnight stands up and beckons Willenbring to his feet.

McKnight drops Willenbring with a beautiful combination! Willenbring stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - McKnight is looking for the KO!

McKnight misses with the combination.
Liam McKnight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McKnight lands a big head kick that sends Willenbring to the canvas! McKnight follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Liam McKnight really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Ma Balls Is Hot Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
