PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sonny Gilchrist (ranked 3177 p4p, 289 weight class) and Adrian Petrov (ranked 4820 p4p, 375 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Sonny Gilchrist has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sonny Gilchrist seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petrov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gilchrist to the mat! Gilchrist manages to get full guard.

Gilchrist has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Petrov has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Petrov gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Petrov takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gilchrist regains full guard. Nicely done.
Petrov postures up and lands a big shot to Gilchrist's brow.
Petrov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gilchrist works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Petrov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gilchrist has his foot on Petrov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Petrov works his way back into a safe position though.

Gilchrist has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Petrov should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Gilchrist has tightened it up now! Petrov should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
