PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Lee (ranked 4304 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frantz Dalembert (ranked 23387 p4p, 0 weight class). Dalembert has chosen "Man's Not Hot" by Big Shaq as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruce Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frantz Dalembert!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee tries a head kick but it misses.
Dalembert moves out of range of the body kick from Lee.
Lee thows a body kick. Dalembert tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Lee swinging wildly here.
Lee misses with a head kick.
Lee throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lee lands a jab-cross combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dalembert to the ground. Lee is now in Dalembert's guard.

Dalembert wriggles free and stands up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lee misses with a wild combination.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dalembert shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lee as he avoids it easily.
Lee lands a jab-cross combination.
Dalembert tries for a takedown but Lee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bruce Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dalembert looks winded!
Lee falls off balance throwing a combination

and Dalembert moves into the clinch.
Dalembert wants to break free but Lee has control.

Dalembert gets control of Lee's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dalembert will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Lee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dalembert swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lee wants to control from the top but Dalembert keeps moving.
Lee has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dalembert has his hands on Lee's head, controlling the position.
Dalembert thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dalembert avoids the head kick by Lee.

and Dalembert counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Lee throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Lee throws a half hearted mid kick.
Lee fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dalembert throws a leg kick but Lee checks it.

Lee closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dalembert did well to prevent Lee getting side control.

Dalembert has one foot on Lee's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Dalembert keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lee moves in looking to clinch but Dalembert pushes him off.
Lee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dalembert moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dalembert circles away quickly and effectively.
Dalembert fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bruce Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frantz Dalembert.
Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dalembert shoots in but no luck this time.
It looked like Lee was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dalembert.
Some bone on bone action there as Dalembert checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Lee throws a nice looking combination but Dalembert bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lee is looking to score with low kicks.
Lee walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Dalembert checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Lee swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Dalembert counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Lee dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Dalembert closes the distance and clinches.
Lee blocks a body shot from Dalembert.

Dalembert drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lee wants to break the clinch but can't.

Dalembert slips a jab and a cross from Lee.
A nice inside leg kick there by Lee. That's going to slow Dalembert down.
Lee throws a series of punches but Dalembert moves out of range.
Lee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lee throws a head kick that misses.
Lee throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dalembert counters with a nice body shot.

Dalembert gets a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Dalembert's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Lee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dalembert can do to turn this around?

Lee can't break the clinch.

Dalembert jumps into guard, dragging Lee to the mat.

Lee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dalembert manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lee has Dalembert in his guard.


Dalembert is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dalembert stands up and waves to Lee to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frantz Dalembert showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Dalembert darts in and clinches Lee up against the cage.
Dalembert has Lee pressed against the cage, preventing Lee from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Dalembert creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Lee is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Lee wants to get back to striking at distance but Dalembert won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dalembert misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Lee.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dalembert circles away quickly and effectively.

Lee wants to get back to striking at distance but Dalembert won't allow it.

Dalembert pulls guard effortlessly.
Lee knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dalembert on the ground.

Dalembert seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Dalembert's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Lee wants to control from the top but Dalembert keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dalembert lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Dalembert is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frantz Dalembert comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dalembert has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A determined Frantz Dalembert didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
