Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Watson Sr (ranked 6247 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Pinto (ranked 3538 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kevin Watson Sr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luis Pinto!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinto swats away the attempt to clinch by Watson Sr.
Watson Sr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pinto's waist but Pinto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Watson Sr off to one side.
Pinto drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Watson Sr defends it well.
Watson Sr moves in looking to clinch but Pinto pushes him off.

Pinto feints and as Watson Sr raises his hands in defense, Pinto changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pinto missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Pinto seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pinto throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Watson Sr is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pinto looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Pinto content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Watson Sr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pinto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pinto in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Watson Sr can't keep his opponent in guard - Pinto advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Pinto not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Pinto performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Pinto is looking for a kimura here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pinto works his foot free and advances to mount.
Pinto looking to control but Watson Sr is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Watson Sr avoids a series of strikes thrown by Pinto.

Pinto is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Watson Sr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pinto unloads with some shots from mount but Watson Sr bucks and avoids them well.

Pinto jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Watson Sr is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Watson Sr and Pinto has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Watson Sr tries to buck Pinto off but Pinto is having none of it.
Pinto happy to just control the position for now.
Pinto is looking to take a break and control but Watson Sr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Watson Sr wants to control but Pinto postures up.
Pinto connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Watson Sr some visible discomfort.

Pinto controls the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Watson Sr is looking to regain half guard here but Pinto keeps moving and retains side control.

Pinto is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Watson Sr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Pinto wants to control the action here but instead Watson Sr manages to pass to full mount!

Watson Sr is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Pinto has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Watson Sr thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Pinto is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Pinto manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Pinto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Pinto looking to control but Watson Sr passes into half guard.
Pinto trying to control from the bottom.
Pinto wants to improve his position but Watson Sr is controlling well.
Watson Sr wants to control but Pinto is keeping him busy.
Pinto is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pinto is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pinto can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pinto trying to control from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Pinto slaps away a takedown attempt from Watson Sr, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Watson Sr tries to close the distance and clinch but Pinto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pinto fails in his attempt to clinch.

Pinto feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Watson Sr pushes Pinto off and gets back to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Watson Sr enables Pinto to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Watson Sr manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Watson Sr manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Pinto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Watson Sr walks away with a smile on his face. Pinto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Pinto shoots in for a double leg but Watson Sr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Watson Sr dominated that second round.
That's time! Watson Sr's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Pinto leaves Watson Sr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pinto throws a hook but Watson Sr blocks it.
Watson Sr tries to clinch up but Pinto circles away and keeps his distance.
Pinto swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Watson Sr shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pinto but Pinto pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Pinto throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Watson Sr was covering up waiting for the punch and Pinto finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pinto wants to pass to mount but Watson Sr is defending the position.

Pinto is working for a kimura but Watson Sr is defending it quite comfortably.
Pinto takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Watson Sr on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Pinto lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Watson Sr wants to control but Pinto is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Pinto might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Watson Sr haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Pinto wants to free his trapped foot but Watson Sr is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pinto drops an elbow to the side of Watson Sr's head.
Pinto perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Pinto thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Watson Sr's head.
Pinto seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Watson Sr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Watson Sr kicks off Pinto and gets to his feet.
Watson Sr closes the distance and clinches up with Pinto, looking for a takedown. Watson Sr pushes Pinto against the cage but Pinto circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pinto drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Pinto tries to score with some ground and pound. Watson Sr controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Watson Sr is trying to escape the position but Pinto is controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Luis Pinto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pinto has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
