The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shelby with a lazy takedown attempt
and Van Bowel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Arturs Shelby has been cut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shelby looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Van Bowel swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Shelby fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Van Bowel checks the leg kick nicely there.
Van Bowel was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Shelby connects with a leg kick. Van Bowel looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Arturs Shelby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shelby darts in looking for a takedown but Van Bowel gets double underhooks and turns Shelby into the cage.
Jan Van Bowel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arturs Shelby.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shelby is looking to clinch but Van Bowel is avoiding it.
Van Bowel is looking to counter punch.
Shelby rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Van Bowel moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
It looked like Van Bowel wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Shelby tries to close the distance and clinch but Van Bowel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shelby tries for a takedown but Van Bowel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Shelby misses with a low kick.
Van Bowel throwing a counter right hand but Shelby manages to avoid it.
Van Bowel keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Van Bowel stuffs the takedown attempt from Shelby. Shelby gets slowly back to his feet.
Jan Van Bowel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Shelby shoots and misses
and Van Bowel counters with a nice right hand that sends Shelby toppling to the canvas! Shelby scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Van Bowel finish him?!
Shelby tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Van Bowel defends well and Shelby ends up having to push Van Bowel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Shelby looks winded!
Van Bowel swats away the attempt to clinch by Shelby.
A little feinted left hand from Van Bowel on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shelby wants to clinch but Van Bowel slips to the side
and Van Bowel counters with a big left hand that crumples Shelby! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
