Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Russell Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips tests Gomes's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Gomes fails with a takedown attempt.
Phillips doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Phillips lands the left hand.
Phillips throws a shot to the body.
Gomes with a lazy takedown attempt
and Phillips connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Phillips displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gomes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronaldo Gomes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gomes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Phillips is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Gomes with a body shot.
Phillips with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Gomes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Phillips pinned against the cage. Phillips gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gomes fails to land the takedown.
Phillips appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Phillips throws a series of punches but Gomes moves out of range.
Gomes looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gomes tries for a takedown but Phillips circles away easily
and Gomes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Phillips moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Gomes on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Phillips lands a body shot.
Phillips throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Phillips stuffs the takedown.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Phillips tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gomes was well out of range. Poor timing from Phillips.
Gomes tries to counter with a takedown but Phillips is quick to defend against it.
Some wild striking there from Phillips.
Phillips has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Gomes has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Gomes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Phillips looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Gomes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Phillips is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Phillips can do anything to dispel that myth.
A lull in the action here as Gomes stalls from top position.
Gomes has hold of Phillips's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Phillips seems comfortable defending it but Gomes has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Phillips is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Phillips is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Gomes couldn't care less - he's delighted!
