Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Ronn (ranked 4729 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bj Pent (ranked 7378 p4p, 0 weight class). Pent has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Jake Ronn could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Bj Pent's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pent looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Pent shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ronn sprawls well. Ronn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pent gets slowly back to his feet.
As Pent looks to move away, Ronn throws a big counter combo but Pent just gets out of the way.
Nice takedown defense from Ronn. No joy for Pent on that attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ronn is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Ronn tries to break free but Pent pushes him back against the cage.
Ronn has Pent pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pent manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ronn is trying to pull guard but Pent turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Ronn is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Pent can't fight it off and eventually Ronn manages to take the fight to the floor. Pent looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pent wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ronn manages to pass to side control.

Ronn moves into range and clinches up with Pent.

Pent is trying to pull guard but Ronn has him pressed against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's time! Ronn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ronn manages to pull guard.
Ronn is adopting a defensive guard.

Ronn scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Ronn slaps away a takedown attempt from Pent, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Pent is breathing heavily.

Ronn shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ronn showed some decent athleticism there.

Ronn is looking for a kimura but Pent is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ronn to get the leverage.

Ronn stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Pent throws a right hand that misses

and Ronn counters with a shoot takedown. Pent fights it but they end up in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ronn postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jake Ronn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pent has momentary wrist control but Ronn slips an elbow through the middle.

Ronn has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ronn has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Pent!

Ronn has hold of Pent's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Pent manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Ronn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pent sprawls well initially but Ronn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ronn is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ronn in particular looking to stall.

Ronn seems to be looking for submissions.

Ronn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pent is just riding it out for now. Ronn eventually gives up the hold.
