Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Verekedos Istvan (ranked 5117 p4p, 401 weight class) and Jon Rambo (ranked 3852 p4p, 335 weight class). Jon Rambo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Verekedos Istvan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Rambo!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rambo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Istvan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Istvan wants to clinch up but Rambo keeps it at a distance.
Istvan fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rambo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rambo tries a quick counter leg kick but Istvan is wise to it.
Istvan doesn't manage to clinch there - Rambo circles away.

and Rambo counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Istvan is looking to get back to is feet but Rambo passes into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rambo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Istvan, who protects the arm well.

Istvan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rambo on the ground.

Istvan tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Rambo easily slips into full mount!

Rambo is working for a guillotine from mount but Istvan frees his head quite easily.

Istvan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rambo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Rambo counters with a series of strikes. Istvan will be more careful next time no doubt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rambo.

Rambo fails to advance to Istvan's back.

Rambo wants to finish this one by submission but Istvan is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rambo.

Rambo is trying to control the action in half guard but Istvan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Rambo is stalling here. Istvan is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Rambo seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Istvan has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Istvan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Istvan showed some decent athleticism there.

Rambo has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Istvan is on him like a limpet, forcing Rambo back against the cage.

Rambo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rambo drops down looking for an ankle pick but Istvan pulls his leg out and moves away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rambo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Rambo counters with a left and a right that stings Istvan.
Istvan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rambo goes for a double leg but Istvan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Istvan continues to drive forward.
Istvan feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rambos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Rambo has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Istvan is looking to take a break and control but Rambo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Istvan really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Rambo.
Rambo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Istvan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Verekedos Istvan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Istvan is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Rambo is defending well though. Istvan let's go of the attempt for now.
