PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Randy Ortiz (ranked 4322 p4p, 460 weight class) and Maximilian Rockatansky (ranked 4659 p4p, 483 weight class). Ortiz comes to the cage accompanied by America - MiW. Randy Ortiz has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Randy Ortiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maximilian Rockatansky!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Topper Green and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rockatansky misses with a two punch combination.
Ortiz could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rockatansky stalks Ortiz and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ortiz's face. Ortiz staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Randy Ortiz has been cut.
Ortiz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rockatansky swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ortiz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rockatansky was covering up waiting for the punch and Ortiz finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rockatansky trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Ortiz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rockatansky looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rockatansky looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rockatansky!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rockatansky tries to get to his feet but Ortiz is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Rockatansky in his guard.
Ortiz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Rockatansky avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Rockatansky wanted to stand there but Ortiz had control of the position.
Ortiz is pulling down on Rockatansky's head. It's preventing any offense from Rockatansky, at least for the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ortiz moves into the clinch successfully.
Rockatansky tries to break the clinch but Ortiz is controlling the position.
Ortiz jumps guard but Rockatansky turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Ortiz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rockatansky gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Ortiz has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rockatansky after a bit of a struggle.

Rockatansky ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rockatansky no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rockatansky lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ortiz is trying to pull guard but Rockatansky turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Maximilian Rockatansky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
