The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Edwards pinned against the cage. Edwards gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Edwards keeps the fight on the outside.

Thompson clinches up with Edwards and pushes him back against the cage.

Thompson jumps into guard, dragging Edwards to the mat.
Thompson trying to keep a closed guard but Edwards is proving a slippery customer.
Edwards trying to stand up but can't free himself from Thompson's guard.
Edwards really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thompson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Edwards is looking to stand up but Thompson won't let him.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thompson is on top in guard.

Edwards wants to sweep but no luck.
Thompson tries to stand but Edwards is controlling from the bottom.
Thompson advances position into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thompson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thompson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Edwards tries to improve position but can't.
Edwards avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Thompson.
An elbow from Thompson crashes against the mat.
Edwards is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Thompson is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Edwards prevents any damage by holding on tight.
