PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Corey Waho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sae Kin Kwon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Waho comes to the cage accompanied by 2Pac - California Love. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Corey Waho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sae Kin Kwon!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kin Kwon misses with a two punch combination.
Waho stuffs the takedown.
Kin Kwon tries to clinch but Waho is having none of it.
Kin Kwon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Waho swivels and escapes.

Kin Kwon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Waho advances to half guard.
Waho wants to free his trapped foot but Kin Kwon is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Waho seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kin Kwon for as long as he can get away with.
Kin Kwon is trying to get back to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Waho perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kin Kwon is looking to control Waho's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kin Kwon avoid being mounted?
Kin Kwon wants to get back to full guard but Waho has passed into side control.
Kin Kwon is trying to escape the mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Corey Waho just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kin Kwon has his takedown stuffed

and Waho counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kin Kwon's guard now.

Waho is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kin Kwon wants to stand up but Waho is controlling him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Waho won't allow Kin Kwon to get back to his feet.
Waho stays in close to Kin Kwon's body and controls the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Corey Waho just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Waho closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kin Kwon to the mat! Kin Kwon manages to get full guard.

Waho is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kin Kwon should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Waho wants to control from the top but Kin Kwon keeps moving.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Waho is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kin Kwon is trying to keep Waho in close.

Kin Kwon doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Waho shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kin Kwon pinned against the cage. Kin Kwon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Kin Kwon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Waho postures up.
Waho is stalling in the full guard.
Kin Kwon has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Waho advances to half guard.

Waho controlling the pace.
Waho wants to pass the guard but Kin Kwon is defending well.
Waho stalling.
Waho tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kin Kwon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kin Kwon keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Corey Waho is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Corey Waho overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Waho in particular looking to stall.

And that's the end of the fight!
Corey Waho showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Waho has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
