Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ion slips a jab and a cross from Takenao.
Takenao tries a head kick but it misses.
Ion avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Takenao misses with the combination.
Ion is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ion blocks a head kick by Takenao.
Ion tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Takenao shoots for a takedown but Ion saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ion with the counter takedown but Takenao avoids it easily.
Takenao has been working on his balance at London MMA Club, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Ion.

Takenao misses with a body shot

and Ion counters with a shoot takedown. Takenao fights it but they end up in guard.
Ion working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Takenao's head.

Ion is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ion's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Takenao had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ion defends it easily.
Ion with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Ion pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Takenao is keeping the position for now.

Takenao wants to sweep here but Ion controlling him for the moment.
Takenao manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ion manages to get himself to full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ion looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ion can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ion is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Takenao frees his head nicely. Oh but Ion has switched to an armbar! Takenao is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
