PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ono Kuronoa (ranked 2214 p4p, 129 weight class) and Victor Anders (ranked 3367 p4p, 186 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Victor Anders was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ono Kuronoa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Victor Anders!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Reed Andrews and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kuronoa drives through and clinches with Anders against the cage.

Kuronoa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kuronoa lands with a nice body punch.
Anders is looking to land body kicks.
Kuronoa changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Anders uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kuronoa.
Anders goes for a double leg but Kuronoa avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kuronoa continues to drive forward.

Kuronoa clinches.
Kuronoa pushes Anders back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Kuronoa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Anders closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Anders lands in his opponent's guard.

Anders gets to his feet. Kuronoa looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Kuronoa takes a swing at Anders's ribcage but misses.
Anders scores with a head kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kuronoa closes the distance and clinches.
Anders lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Kuronoa tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Anders just stands there and leans against the cage.
A short right from Kuronoa on the inside.
Kuronoa lands a nice shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Anders is trying to maintain a safe position but Kuronoa gets an underhook and turns Anders into the cage.
Kuronoa tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Anders just stands there and leans against the cage.
Anders looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Kuronoa breaks from the clinch.
Kuronoa bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Anders's head backwards.
Anders uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kuronoa.
Anders avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kuronoa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Anders tests Kuronoa's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kuronoa clobbers Anders with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kuronoa connects with a good right hand that stumbles Anders. Anders circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Kuronoa fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ono Kuronoa. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Anders gets a clinch.
Kuronoa lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Anders backwards.
Kuronoa blocks an elbow strike.

Kuronoa ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kuronoa no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Anders wants to pass the guard but Kuronoa is keeping the position.

Kuronoa looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Anders with a flurry of punches that miss.
Anders tries to free his leg and advance position but Kuronoa is retaining full guard.
Anders throws a big elbow that misses.
Anders is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anders stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Kuronoa has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Anders manages to get his head free but now Kuronoa has transitioned to an armbar! Anders grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Kuronoa! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ono Kuronoa!
