PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shoju Bayushi (ranked 1759 p4p, 206 weight class) and Samuel Turbitt (ranked 2402 p4p, 277 weight class). Bayushi comes into the arena with Scorpions - Always Somewhere blaring out of the sound system. Turbitt comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Tell Me Ma kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shoju Bayushi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Samuel Turbitt!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turbitt throws a head kick but Bayushi moves out of range.
Bayushi closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Turbitt moves away from the strike by Bayushi.
A nice side step and Turbitt releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Turbitt throws a series of punches but Bayushi moves out of range.
Bayushi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Turbitt.
A jab from Turbitt does it's job there.
Turbitt misses the jab.
Bayushi defending well as Turbitt loads up on a big left hand.
Sloppy strikes from Turbitt. Those never looked like landing.
Bayushi on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Turbitt. Turbitt obviously looking to wear him down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Turbitt moves out of range as Bayushi throws a body kick.
Turbitt scores with a jab. Bayushi acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Bayushi displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Turbitt throws out the jab.
Turbitt dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bayushi. That did some damage!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Turbitt rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bayushi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Turbitt throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Bayushi counter with a right hand.
Turbitt throws a looping overhand right but Bayushi ducks down to avoid it.
Turbitt ducks under a wild hook from Bayushi.
Bayushi scores with a nice strike.
Samuel Turbitt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from Turbitt. Bayushi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bayushi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bayushi misses with a wild combination.
A punch lands to the side of Bayushi 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Turbitt lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bayushi circles away quickly and effectively.
Bayushi defending well as Turbitt loads up on a big left hand.
It looked like Bayushi was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Turbitt misses with a series of wild punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bayushi misses the shot to the body.
Turbitt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bayushi pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Turbitt misses with a jab, cross combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Turbitt lands with an uppercut that bounces Bayushi off the cage and back into range.
Bayushi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Turbitt.
Turbitt takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Turbitt throws a series of punches but Bayushi avoids them all with ease.
Turbitt finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Bayushi appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Turbitt misses with a shot to the body
and Bayushi counters with a nice uppercut.
Turbitt misses with a hook to the body
and Bayushi counters with a straight right hand.
Turbitt swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Turbitt loads up on a big right hand but Bayushi slips the punch.

Bayushi lands a nice hook to Turbitt's body. Turbitt takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Turbitt takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Bayushi scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Turbitt throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Turbitt misses with a left hand
and Bayushi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


Turbitt is rocked!
Bayushi is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Turbitt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Turbitt is still on wobbly legs! Can Bayushi finish him?
Bayushi cracks Turbitt with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Turbitt tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Bayushi pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Turbitt is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shoju Bayushi!
A victorious Shoju Bayushi thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
