PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mayson Benjamin (ranked 3846 p4p, 448 weight class) and Oak Tree (ranked 23750 p4p, 613 weight class). Oak Tree told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tree scores with a decent looking hook.
Benjamin throws a body punch but Tree moves out of range.
Benjamin throws a head kick but Tree moves out of range.
Tree misses with a low kick.
Benjamin throws a low kick but Tree moves out of range easily.
Tree has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Benjamin is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Tree takes the fight into the clinch.

A frustrated look appears on Tree's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Benjamin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tree's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Benjamin throws a push kick but Tree slaps the foot to one side.
Tree swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tree throws a body punch but Benjamin moves out of range.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Benjamin lands a nice short elbow.

Benjamin is working for a kimura but Tree is defending it quite comfortably.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Benjamin working over Tree with some ground and pound. Tree looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tree is trying to stand up here but Benjamin is controlling him well.

Benjamin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Benjamin in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Tree tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Benjamin!
