And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danar Lightner!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lightner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kinney sprawls well. Kinney wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lightner gets slowly back to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Lightner or perhaps it was just good defense by Kinney, which made it look bad.
Kinney is looking for a counter combo.
Lightner needs to keep his hands up - Kinney had a free shot at his head there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kinney rushes Lightner and presses him up against the cage.

Lightner tries to clinch up but Kinney circles away and keeps his distance.

Kinney moves into range and clinches up with Lightner.

Kinney really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lightner lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Kinney backwards.

Kinney lands with a left to the head.
Kinney stops a takedown attempt from Lightner.
Kinney changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lightner fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Lightner is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Lightner is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kinney is defending well for now.

Lightner changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kinney fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Kinney counters with a slapping leg kick.

Lightner closes the distance and clinches up with Kinney, looking for a takedown. Lightner pushes Kinney against the cage but Kinney circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kinney lunges at Lightner with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Lightner's hand.

and Kinney counters with a left and a right that stings Lightner.

A frustrated look appears on Lightner's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Kinney pulls guard effortlessly.

Kinney wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Kinney is looking to stand up but Lightner isn't so interested in that idea.

Kinney escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lightner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kinney kicks Lightner off and gets to his feet.
Good leg kick by Kinney there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Lightner shoots in and drives through. Kinney sprawls well.
Kinney circles away from the clinch attempt.

The fight stays on the outside here - Lightner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lightner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kinney moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lightner fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kinney is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Lightner.
Lightner doesn't manage to clinch there - Kinney circles away.

Kinney moves into the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kinney is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Lightner wants to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Kinney dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Kinney has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Lightner lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

and Kinney counters by moving into the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kinney creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lightner looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lightner lands a shot to the body.
Kinney has Lightner pressed against the cage, preventing Lightner from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Kinney working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lightner holds on and takes a little breather.

Ned Kinney is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lightner moves to clinch but Kinney breaks away
and Kinney counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lightner's knee momentarily.
Kinney is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Kinney avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kinney misses with a low kick as Lightner jumps back.
Lightner throws a lazy right hand but Kinney sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Lightner falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kinney counters with a three punch combo that has Lightner backing up. Lightner nods at Kinney to acknowledge the strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ned Kinney showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kinney has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
