Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slade Ramage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slade Ramage is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Slade Ramage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramage tries to clinch there but Mir circles away.

Mir has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ramage fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mir tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ramage just stands there and leans against the cage.
Mir tries to pull guard but Ramage won't allow it.
Ramage leaning his opponent against the cage.

Ramage has picked Mir up - he's going for a ride! Ramage dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Mir is staying active underneath Ramage, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ramage is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Mir moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ramage is stalling in the full guard.
Ramage has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mir is proving hard to escape from.

Mir working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ramage doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ramage manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mir has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ramage is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mir.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mir tries to buck Ramage off but Ramage is having none of it.
Mir manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Ramage trying to hold on to Mir's head to control him but Mir postures up.
Ramage won't allow Mir to pass to mount.

Mir is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Mir has hold of Ramage's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ramage manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Ramage is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ramage wants to hold on but Mir pushes him away.

Mir jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ramage manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Mir is breathing heavily.
Ramage struggling a bit here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ramage is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Ramage can't do much from the bottom here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mir shoots in and drives through. Ramage sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mir closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ramage circles away.

Ramage closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ramage lands in his opponent's guard.
Ramage must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ramage wants to pass the guard but Mir is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mir gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ramage counters with a single leg into guard. Mir didn't expect that.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Let's hope that Ramage has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ramage slips nicely into half guard.
Well, if Ramage is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Mir wants to control but Ramage is keeping busy.

Ramage stands up and beckons Mir to join him on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Ramage counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ramage.

Ramage avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Ramage stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Mir shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mir was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Slade Ramage has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ramage is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mir manages to capitalize on a mistake by Ramage to take his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Ramage's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Mir has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Ramage has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Mir is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Ramage defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mir doesn't have the hooks in and Ramage manages to turn into his guard.
Mir can't keep his opponent in guard - Ramage advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ramage prevents Mir from improving his position.
Mir wants to control but Ramage is keeping busy.
Ramage moves nicely into side control.
Mir is trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Slade Ramage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Mir preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mir keeping full guard, as Ramage tries to pass.
Ramage is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Ramage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ramage wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving.
Mir is looking to stand up but Ramage isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ramage throws a quick inside leg kick.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mir manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Ramage slows the pace down in half guard.

Ramage moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Mir.

Ramage decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mir to his feet.
Mir tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Ramage counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Mir tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ramage smiles and moves away.

Mir doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Ramage counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mir won't be happy with that.

Mir tries to buck Ramage off but Ramage is having none of it.

Ramage tries for a kimura but Mir is defending well.
Ramage tries to move to mount but Mir blocks the move with his legs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Slade Ramage comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ramage has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
