PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kratos Lancaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Canonico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lancaster comes to the cage accompanied by The Metal. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kratos Lancaster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Canonico!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lancaster shoots in for a double leg but Canonico sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lancaster is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lancaster tries to clinch up but Canonico circles away and keeps his distance.
Canonico throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Canonico shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lancaster's guard.
Canonico connects with a couple of short punches.
Canonico throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lancaster works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lancaster trying to keep a closed guard but Canonico is proving a slippery customer.
Lancaster is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Canonico is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Canonico is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lancaster is just riding it out for now. Canonico eventually gives up the hold.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Canonico has eaten all the pies!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Canonico connects with a nice short shot to Lancaster's temple.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Canonico postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lancaster is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Canonico, into his guard.

Canonico has his foot on Lancaster's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lancaster works his way back into a safe position though.

Canonico escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lancaster gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Canonico is in close to Lancaster's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Canonico postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lancaster is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Canonico, into his guard.

Canonico working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lancaster doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lancaster manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Canonico had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lancaster is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Canonico Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lancaster's back instead.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well Canonico has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
