PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Raymond Slicker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dom Danky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slicker kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is One. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raymond Slicker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dom Danky!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slicker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Danky goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Slicker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Danky throws a right and a left that both miss.

Danky feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Danky looks gassed!

Danky stands up and waves to Slicker to follow him.
Slicker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Slicker shoots in and drives through. Danky sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raymond Slicker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Danky misses with an uppercut.
Slicker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Danky.

Slicker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Danky, pushing him back against the cage.
Slicker is trying to break the clinch but Danky has him pressed against the cage.
Slicker jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Danky walks away with a smile on his face. Slicker gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Danky decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Danky working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Slicker tries to roll over but Danky keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slicker pushes Danky off and gets back to his feet.

Slicker closes the distance and clinches.
Slicker lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Danky drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Slicker gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Slicker is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Danky gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Slicker with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Slicker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Slicker is looking to clinch but Danky is avoiding it.
Slicker shoots in for a takedown but Danky shows good takedown defense.
Slicker stuns Danky with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Dom Danky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slicker tries to close the distance and clinch but Danky swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Slicker wants to clinch up but Danky keeps it at a distance.
Slicker looks for a takedown but Danky sprawls well.
Slicker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Danky moves away.
Danky fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Slicker has taken the fight to the clinch.

Slicker ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Slicker no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Slicker is looking for a triangle but Danky pushes his legs off easily.
Danky trying to control but Slicker is working from the bottom.
Slicker wants to stand but Danky is controlling the position.
Danky is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Slicker trying to keep a closed guard but Danky is proving a slippery customer.

Danky trying to stand up but can't free himself from Slicker's guard.
Slicker wants to stand up but Danky is controlling him.
Danky postures up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Danky fails with the takedown

and Slicker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Danky's guard now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slicker is looking to work some ground and pound but Danky has wrist control.
Danky is trying to hold Slicker in close to prevent damage but Slicker has managed to pass into half guard.

Slicker is working for a submission of some sort.
Slicker is looking to advance position but Danky won't allow it.
Slicker is trying to control the action in half guard but Danky is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dom Danky will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Danky looks to land a combination but Slicker avoids it well.
Slicker with a jab.
Danky misses with a few strikes there.
Slicker misses with a takedown

and Danky counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Danky.
Slicker wants to break free but Danky has control.
Slicker taking a breather.
Slicker creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Danky's defenses.
Danky has a couple of punches blocked by Slicker.
Slicker fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Danky wants to get back to striking at distance but Slicker won't allow it.

Slicker pulls guard effortlessly.
Danky throws and elbow that misses. Slicker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Danky's guard. Nice move by Slicker!
Danky is breathing heavily.

Slicker decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Slicker is looking to clinch but Danky is avoiding it.
Slicker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Danky as he jumps to the side.

Slicker moves into range and clinches up with Danky.
Danky tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Slicker smiles and moves away.
Slicker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Danky is fending him off so far but Slicker persists. Nope, Danky circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown by Slicker or perhaps it was just good defense by Danky which made him look bad.
Slicker throws a low kick but it's checked well by Danky.
Slicker is looking to clinch.

Danky is not content to let Slicker control the position.

Slicker is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Danky has managed to free his arm - good work.

Danky has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Slicker. Oh but Danky has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Slicker goes limp - he's gone! Danky jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
