PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Guyir Herdack (ranked 4078 p4p, 174 weight class) and Muhamad Fatih (ranked 4375 p4p, 189 weight class). Muhamad Fatih is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Guyir Herdack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Muhamad Fatih!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fatih closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Herdack to the mat! Herdack manages to get full guard.
Herdack can't keep his opponent in guard - Fatih advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fatih is working for a submission of some sort.
Fatih is stalling here. Herdack is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Fatih seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Herdack has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Herdack is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fatih knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Herdack seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fatih looking to sit in guard and control but Herdack gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Herdack has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Fatih has his foot on Herdack's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Herdack works his way back into a safe position though.

Fatih working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Herdack doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Herdack manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fatih is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Fatih manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Herdack manages to get himself to full guard.

Fatih shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Herdack is trying to defend but Fatih finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Fatih is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Herdack still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Herdack has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Herdack tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Herdack has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Fatih bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Herdack's guard.


Fatih is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Herdack is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Herdack has escaped and now he's on top!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Herdack enables Fatih to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Herdack manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Herdack has control of Fatih's left arm, preventing Fatih from doing any damage.
Fatih has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Oh but Fatih is tightening it up a little... Herdack has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Herdack reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Herdack taps out! Nice BJJ there by Fatih!
