Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kirk Bridges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Earl Marshall!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshall with a poor takedown
and Bridges counters with a straight right hand.
Marshall doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bridges counters with a stiff right hand.
Marshall shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bridges as he avoids it easily.
Kirk Bridges has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Earl Marshall.
Marshall throws a leg kick that is checked
and Bridges counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A low kick from Marshall misses

and Bridges counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bridges.
Bridges really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Marshall looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Marshall might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bridges haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

A lazy body kick from Marshall

and Bridges counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Bridges is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Bridges has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Marshall is proving hard to escape from.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bridges lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Bridges slips a nice elbow through Marshall's hands, connecting with Marshall's forehead.
Bridges throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Marshall keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bridges scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Bridges stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Marshall shoots in for a takedown but Bridges shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The fighters circle momentarily. Bridges darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Bridges darts in and clinches Marshall up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bridges pulls guard successfully.
Bridges is looking to stand back up but Marshall counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Bridges.

Bridges might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bridges preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Marshall walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bridges checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Bridges tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Marshall manages to circle out of the way.

and Bridges decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Marshall's guard.

Marshall manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Marshall shoots in but Bridges avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bridges swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Marshall gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Bridges wants a takedown.
Marshall wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bridges has him pressed against the cage.

Bridges successfully pulls guard.
Bridges wants to stand but Marshall is controlling the position.

Marshall wants to control from the top but Bridges keeps moving.

Marshall is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bridges is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bridges has escaped and now he's on top!

Bridges is looking to work some ground and pound but Marshall has wrist control.

Marshall is working an open guard so Bridges takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Marshall tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bridges swivels and escapes.
Bridges wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Bridges gets tackled into the cage by Marshall. Marshall maintains the clinch.
Marshall unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bridges lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Marshall goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bridges prevents it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marshall drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bridges looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bridges looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bridges!

Bridges decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Bridges counters with a good, hard body kick but Marshall shrugs it off.

Bridges feinted with a counter takedown.
Kirk Bridges has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Earl Marshall.
Marshall takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bridges closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Marshall digs a right hand into Bridges's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Bridges's gas tank.
Bridges prevents the takedown attempt.
Bridges can't get the takedown.

Bridges manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Bridges working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marshall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marshall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Marshall drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bridges manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Marshall has Bridges in his guard.

Marshall closes the distance and clinches.
A short body shot lands from Bridges as the two fighters clinch.
Marshall has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bridges is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Marshall tries to break free but Bridges pushes him back against the cage.

Bridges gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Marshall wants to get back to striking at distance but Bridges won't allow it.
Bridges jumps guard but Marshall stands there with Bridges around his waist. Bridges gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Marshall jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bridges walks away with a smile on his face. Marshall gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Marshall throws the kick towards the body but Bridges avoids it.
A little feinted left hand from Bridges on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Kirk Bridges is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Marshall tries a head kick but it misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Marshall has his takedown stuffed
and Bridges counters with a stiff right hand.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kirk Bridges showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bridges has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
