Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Li Qiang (ranked 2931 p4p, 113 weight class) and Bruno Aveline (ranked 3315 p4p, 122 weight class). Li Qiang could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Bruno Aveline's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Qiang is defended easily by Aveline.

Qiang fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Aveline sprawls well initially but Qiang persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Qiang working over Aveline with some ground and pound. Aveline looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aveline is looking to control Qiang's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Aveline avoid being mounted?
Qiang could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Qiang drops an elbow to the side of Aveline's head.
Qiang wants to control but Aveline is keeping him busy.
Aveline wants to get back to full guard but Qiang has passed into side control.
Qiang lands an elbow.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Qiang tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Qiang has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Qiang in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Aveline takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Qiang grinds an elbow into Aveline's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Qiang cracks Aveline with a big right hand but Aveline just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Aveline is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Qiang is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Aveline is rocked!
Aveline looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Qiang loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Aveline scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Qiang land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Qiang stands and salutes the crowd.
