Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Clarkson (ranked 4649 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Marino (ranked 23280 p4p, 0 weight class). Marino comes into a darkened arena with his song building. "Real American" by Rick Derringer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Clarkson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Marino!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marino shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Clarkson as he avoids it easily.
Clarkson wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Clarkson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Clarkson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Marino avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Clarkson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Marino is trying to defend but Clarkson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Clarkson wants to control but Marino is keeping him busy.

Marino felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Clarkson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Marino manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Clarkson has Marino in his guard.

Marino seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Marino has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Clarkson is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Clarkson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Marino is now in half guard.
Marino moves into full mount! Clarkson won't be happy about that!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Clarkson.
Marino drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Clarkson defends it well.

It looks like Jason Clarkson has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Marino has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
