PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jerald Mendoza (ranked 5325 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruby Macer (ranked 4032 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Macer takes the fight into the clinch.

Macer tightens his grip and picks Mendoza up, before dumping him to the ground. Mendoza manages to land in guard.
Mendoza really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Macer drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mendoza dives on top into guard.

Mendoza has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mendoza is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Macer tries to free his leg and advance position but Mendoza is retaining full guard.

Mendoza uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Macer shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Mendoza manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Macer has Mendoza pressed against the cage, preventing Mendoza from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Macer wants to pass to mount but Mendoza is defending the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendoza is not content to let Macer control the position.
Mendoza wants to control but Macer is keeping busy.

Macer is working for a submission of some sort.

Mendoza is looking for a sweep. Macer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mendoza has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Macer is working away from the top position though.

Macer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mendoza doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Macer.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mendoza is trying to hold Macer in close to prevent damage but Macer has managed to pass into half guard.

A close round but Ruby Macer will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mendoza rushes Macer and presses him up against the cage.

Macer turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Macer manages to end up in side control.
Mendoza can't do much from the bottom here.
We've been informed that Macer has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Ruby Macer has got the better of the ground game so far.

Macer is trying to get an arm triangle but Mendoza is defending well.
Mendoza throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

Macer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Macer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mendoza knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Macer on the ground.
Mendoza is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Macer is controlling him well.

Macer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mendoza, who protects the arm well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mendoza can't do much from the bottom here.
Mendoza is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Macer has an Americana. Mendoza didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Macer is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Macer hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
