PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between BIG NIG (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Sideshow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, BIG NIG!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, The Sideshow!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sideshow shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
NIG moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
NIG could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

NIG is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

NIG looking for a guillotine here but Sideshow defends easily.

NIG working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sideshow doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sideshow manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

NIG isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sideshow stacks NIG on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sideshow!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Sideshow keeps control of the position as NIG tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that BIG NIG will probably get the nod.

NIG gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Sideshow decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in NIG's guard.

Sideshow avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sideshow working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
NIG is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

NIG had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sideshow is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. NIG Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sideshow's back instead.

NIG is looking for the choke from the back position but Sideshow is controlling his hands well.

NIG is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Sideshow has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Sideshow wants to control his opponent's hands but NIG gets his hands free.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

That was a close second round but I would say that BIG NIG will probably get the nod.
That's time! NIG's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Sideshow has NIG up against the cage in a clinch.

Sideshow is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. NIG can't fight it off and eventually Sideshow manages to take the fight to the floor. NIG looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
NIG is trying to keep Sideshow in close.
NIG is really struggling to control Sideshow but he's trying to hold on to the position.

NIG not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

NIG working for submissions but it's allowed Sideshow to get to half guard.
Sideshow is figuring out what he wants to do next.

NIG looking for submissions off his back.
Sideshow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with NIG. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sideshow prevents NIG from improving his position.
Sideshow is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sideshow controls from within his opponent's guard.

NIG has his foot on Sideshow's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sideshow works his way back into a safe position though.
The Sideshow has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
BIG NIG is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The Sideshow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
