Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Gonzales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Cabrera!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzales fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cabrera sprawls well initially but Gonzales persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cabrera blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gonzales.
Cabrera moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gonzales trying to control the position from guard on top but Cabrera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gonzales wants to pass the guard but Cabrera is keeping the position.
Gonzales with a flurry of punches that miss.
Cabrera throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Cabrera managing to control the position.

Gonzales stands and steps away. Cabrera gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Gonzales shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gonzales was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Cabrera trying to punch from the bottom. They're landing but they're really not going to hurt Gonzales.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonzales unloading with bombs!

Gonzales is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cabrera can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gonzales has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cabrera wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Cabrera is desperately trying to improve his position but Gonzales has a good base and remains in mount.
Cabrera looks gassed!
Cabrera is trying to escape the mount but Gonzales keeps good control and instead manages to take Cabrera's back.
Gonzales is not going to allow Cabrera to sit and survive in this position.
Cabrera is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Gonzales off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Cabrera is in bad spot here.

Gonzales is looking for a rear naked choke here but Cabrera reverses the position brilliantly into Gonzales's guard!

Gonzales has his foot on Cabrera's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cabrera works his way back into a safe position though.

Gonzales is looking to sweep but instead, Cabrera has passed into half guard.
Gonzales is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cabrera's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cabrera's back!

Gonzales is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Cabrera defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Gonzales is persistently looking for the submission but Cabrera is defending it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gonzales misses with an elbow to the head.

Cabrera trying to control the position but Gonzales manages to sink in the hooks.

Gonzales is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Cabrera has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Gonzales has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Cabrera taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Gonzales doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Paul Gonzales!
