The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Whitney fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Omar sprawls well initially but Whitney persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Omar has one foot on Whitney's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Don Omar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Whitney counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Whitney wants to stand but Omar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Omar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Whitney really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Whitney shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Whitney showed some decent athleticism there.

Omar doesn't manage to clinch there - Whitney circles away.
Whitney avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Whitney on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Omar swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Whitney shoots in looking for a takedown. Omar tries to sprawl out of it but Whitney keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Omar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Omar tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Whitney just stands there and leans against the cage.
Whitney has Omar pressed against the cage, preventing Omar from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Omar goes for a takedown attempt but Whitney pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Whitney shoots in but no luck this time.
Omar raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Omar gets a clinch.

Omar is fighting off a takedown attempt but Whitney is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Omar to the mat. Omar regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Omar has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Whitney off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Whitney is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Whitney looks like he's trying to stand up.
Omar trying to control from Whitney's half guard. Whitney has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Whitney isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Omar stacks Whitney on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Omar!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Whitney defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Omar.

Omar closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Whitney quickly recovers to half guard.
Omar is pressing down on Whitney's thigh, looking to free his foot. Whitney is holding on for now.
Omar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Whitney keeps working.

Omar decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Omar throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Whitney stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Omar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Whitney tries to avoid it but Omar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Whitney to the ground. Whitney escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Malcom Whitney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Omar.
Omar is breathing heavily.
No luck for Whitney with that takedown attempt.

Whitney drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Omar manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Omar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Omar is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Whitney has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Omar is looking to defend but Whitney has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Omar! Whitney pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Omar taps out and this one is all over!
