PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Don Blow (ranked 6610 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felix Yong (ranked 6224 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Yong.

Yong shoots in and gets a takedown into Blow's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Blow manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Yong drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Blow gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Yong fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Yong prevents a takedown attempt there.

Blow breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yong fails with an attempt to clinch.
Yong throws a left and a right that both miss

and Blow counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yong won't be happy with that.

Yong is trying to escape the position but Blow is controlling the position.
Yong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blow. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Yong is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Blow's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yong is defending against the submission attempts here by Blow.
Yong pushes Blow off looking to stand but Blow dives back in and keeps control.
Yong looks winded!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Blow stands up and beckons Yong to join him on the feet.

Blow has taken the fight to the clinch.
Yong looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Yong tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Blow unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Yong goes for a takedown attempt but Blow pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Don Blow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felix Yong.

Blow moves into the clinch successfully.
Blow has Yong pressed against the cage, preventing Yong from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Blow's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Blow is defended easily by Yong.
Blow shoots in but Yong avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A nice side step and Yong releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Blow is on top in guard.

Yong keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Blow holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Blow tightens his grip and picks Yong up, before dumping him to the ground. Yong manages to land in guard.
Yong throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Blow is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yong can do to turn this around?

Blow tries for a kimura but Yong is defending well.
Yong is breathing heavily.

Blow grinds an elbow into Yong's temple.
Yong is working to avoid the ground and pound but Blow connects with a decent elbow.
Blow is staying tight to Yong's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Blow seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Yong for as long as he can get away with.

Blow is trying to get an arm triangle but Yong is defending well.

Blow is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Yong knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Blow lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Blow gets to mount! Yong was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Blow tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Yong is bucking up trying to escape but Blow cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Blow stands up from mount. Strange move.

Blow closes the distance and pushes Yong back into the cage.
Blow manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Blow throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Yongs head.

Blow is trying to trip Yong. He has hold of a leg but Yong is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Blow persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Yong is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Blow dives into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's time! Blow's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Blow shoots in and drives through. Yong sprawls well.
Nice sprawl there from Yong as Blow shoots in.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Yong, as that shot connected.
Yong stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Blow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yong shoots in for a takedown but Blow shows good takedown defense.

Yong bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Blow sneaks out the side door and pushes Yong away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yong wants to clinch but Blow slips to the side
and Blow counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Yong misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Blow rushes Yong and presses him up against the cage.

Blow gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Blow with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Yong is trying to control but Blow manages to pass to mount!
Blow lands a big elbow.
Blow controlling the position easily from mount.
Blow is landing with some decent strikes but Yong is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Blow is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Yong has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Yong!

Yong throws an elbow that misses. Blow uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Yong's guard. Nice move by Blow!

Yong wants to control the position but Blow says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Don Blow overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Blow working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Blow, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
