PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Cramer (ranked 3948 p4p, 400 weight class) and Anderson Silva (ranked 3057 p4p, 341 weight class). Cramer comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman. Anderson Silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Cramer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anderson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cramer pinned against the cage. Cramer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Silva rushes Cramer and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cramer jumps guard and drags Silva to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Silva trying to control but Cramer is working from the bottom.
Cramer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.

Cramer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Silva looking for a sweep. Not yet Silva, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cramer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Cramer drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Cramer off! Cramer jumps back into Silva's guard.
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cramer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Silva is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Cramer wants to get up but he can't break Silva's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Cramer is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.

Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cramer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Silva bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Silva looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Silva is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cramer, pushing him back against the cage.
Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cramer gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Cramer breaks from the clinch.
Silva jabs at Cramer's body.

Silva gets a clinch.

Cramer lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Silva misses with the head strike.

Cramer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Silva ducks under a wild hook from Cramer.
Silva lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Cramer clinches up against the cage.
Cramer stops a takedown attempt from Silva.
Nick Cramer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Silva.
Silva looking to slow down the pace here.
Cramer lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Silva misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cramer.
Silva wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Silva jumps guard but Cramer stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cramer has hold of one of Silva's legs. Silva is fighting the takedown attempt but Cramer gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Silva is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Cramer stands up and waves to Silva to follow him.
Anderson Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva scores with a jab to the jaw.
Cramer smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cramer has managed to clinch.

Cramer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Silva uses from the top position.

Silva is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cramer is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cramer has escaped and now he's on top!

Cramer wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Cramer sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Silva's guard.

Cramer throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Cramer wants to finish this one by submission but Silva is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cramer.
Cramer fails to move to back control.
Cramer wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely.

Cramer is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Silva to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Silva shrugs it off.
Cramer tries to control but Silva wriggling away.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silva can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cramer is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Silva is surviving well by controlling Cramer's body position as best he can.

Cramer has hold of Silva's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Silva manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Cramer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Silva can do to turn this around?
Silva is looking to improve his position but Cramer isn't that keen on the idea.

Cramer misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Silva tries to hold on but Cramer postures up.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cramer has control of Silva's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Silva regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Silva tries to reverse the position but Cramer maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Cramer dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cramer dives on top into guard.


Cramer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cramer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Silva wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Silva's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Silva can't keep his opponent in guard - Cramer advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Cramer passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Silva!
Silva is desperately trying to improve his position but Cramer has a good base and remains in mount.

Cramer wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely.

Cramer is working for a guillotine from mount but Silva frees his head quite easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Cramer is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Nick Cramer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cramer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Cramer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Silva is trying to control Cramer's posture but Cramer avoids it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Anderson Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Cramer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nick Cramer showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cramer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Nick Cramer rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
