PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Konichiwa Jempsa (ranked 6271 p4p, 546 weight class) and Kyle Lewis (ranked 2311 p4p, 285 weight class). Lewis has chosen DMX - Slippin as his entrance music. Konichiwa Jempsa had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Konichiwa Jempsa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyle Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've been hearing reports that Jempsa has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Lewis shoots in but Jempsa avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lewis.
Jempsa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lewis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lewis lands a jab to the nose.


It looks like Konichiwa Jempsa has been cut.
Lewis scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Jempsa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lewis.
Jempsa shoots in for a takedown but Lewis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jempsa avoids a punch combination nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lewis fails to land with a series of punches.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lewis is defended easily by Jempsa.
Konichiwa Jempsa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Lewis.
Jempsa shoots in for a double leg but Lewis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lewis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lewis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jempsa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A punch combination from Lewis misses.
Jempsa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lewis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jempsa somewhat.
Lewis shoots in and drives through. Jempsa sprawls well.
Jempsa scores with a nice right hand.
Lewis throws a nice looking combination but Jempsa bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jempsa closes the distance and clinches up with Lewis, looking for a takedown. Jempsa pushes Lewis against the cage but Lewis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lewis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jempsa as he avoids it easily.

Lewis shoots in for a takedown but Jempsa shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jempsa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Jempsa ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lewis moves away.
No joy there for Lewis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lewis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jempsa sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Jempsa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lewis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jempsa's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


No joy there for Lewis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Lewis throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jempsa escapes and throws Lewis's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Konichiwa Jempsa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lewis has his foot on Jempsa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jempsa works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jempsa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lewis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jempsa looks up at the clock and then as Lewis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jempsa smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Jempsa manages to reverse the position and now he's in Lewis's guard. Nice work there by Jempsa.

Lewis has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jempsa is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lewis.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Konichiwa Jempsa.
I think Jempsa has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
