Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Polk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daigo Goto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for James Polk has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Polk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daigo Goto!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goto fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Polk scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Polk misses with a hook.
Goto avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Polk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Polk cracks Goto with a big right hand and Goto goes down!


It looks like Daigo Goto has been cut.
Goto looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Polk puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Goto wants to improve his position but Polk is controlling well.
Goto is looking to get back to full guard here but Polk has managed to pass to side control instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Polk tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Goto really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Goto wants to control but Polk is having none of it.
Polk controlling from the full mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Polk wants to get back to his feet but Goto is holding on tight.
Goto is looking to get to half guard.
Goto holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Polk tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Goto keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Goto is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Polk looking to ground and pound but Goto is blocking nicely.
Goto tries to reverse the position but Polk maintains control.
Polk controlling from mount.
Polk's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Polk wants to control the pace but Goto is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goto is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Goto is wriggling around trying to escape.

Polk looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Polk dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Daigo Goto's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Goto shoots in but no luck this time.
Polk misses with a wild body shot.
Goto slips under a jab from Polk.
James Polk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Goto is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Polk tests Goto's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Polk misses with a wild body shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Polk lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Goto has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Goto and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Goto shoots in and bounces Polk off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Goto throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Polk works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Polk has control of Goto's left arm, preventing Goto from doing any damage.
Polk is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Polk seems keen to control Goto's posture.
Goto distracts Polk with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Goto slips nicely into half guard.
Goto thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Polk's head.
Polk keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Goto wants to control but Polk is keeping him busy.
Polk is trying to maintain the position but Goto is very close to passing his half guard.
Goto is looking to stall here but Polk recovers full guard.
Polk is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Goto is controlling him.

Goto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Polk swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Polk not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Polk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Goto shoots in for a double leg but Polk sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Polk throws a hook but Goto avoids it easily.
Goto shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Polk as he avoids it easily.
James Polk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daigo Goto.

Goto closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Goto trying to mount his opponent but Polk defends it.
Goto not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Goto is looking to pass Polk's guard but actually Polk recovers to full guard.
Goto pushing down on Polk's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Polk on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Polk tries to get out of the position.
Polk is trying to stand.
Polk trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Goto won't let Polk get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Daigo Goto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Polk throws a jab but it's blocked by Goto.
Goto displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Polk throws out the jab.
Polk looks to throw the jab but Goto is out of range.
Polk misses with the combination.
Goto staying out of range there.
Polk lands a with a good body shot.
Polk misses with a looping left.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Polk throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Polk throws the left hand but Goto avoids the punch easily.
Goto misses with a straight right.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Polk lands a nice hook to Goto's body. Goto takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Polk looks to land a right hand but Goto moved out of range.
Goto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Polk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Goto looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Polk will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Polk throws a big shot that misses.
Polk throws a hook but Goto blocks it.
A jab from Polk does it's job there.
Polk jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Goto shoots for a takedown but Polk saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Goto thows a body shot but no joy.
The fighters circling - Polk throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Goto fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
James Polk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daigo Goto.
Goto moves in looking to clinch but Polk pushes him off.
Goto throws a hook to the side of Polk's head but Polk sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Polk on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
James Polk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Polk throws a shot from downtown. Goto moves away and avoids it.
Polk misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Goto.
Polk throws a jab when Goto was well out of range.
Goto gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Goto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Polk throws a series of punches but Goto avoids them all with ease.
Polk misses with an uppercut. Goto saw that one coming.
Goto uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Polk.
Goto shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Polk pinned against the cage. Polk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Polk scores with a decent looking hook.
Goto uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Polk.
Polk stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Goto shoots in and drives through. Polk sprawls well.
Polk misses with an attempted mid kick.
Polk keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


That has opened up Daigo Goto's cut even more.
Polk misses with a wild combination.
Polk throws a series of punches but Goto moves out of range.
Polk misses with a looping right.
Polk moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Polk tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Goto was well out of range. Poor timing from Polk.
Goto closes the distance and clinches up with Polk, looking for a takedown. Goto pushes Polk against the cage but Polk circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Goto ducks under a wild hook from Polk.
Polk misses with a hook. Goto ducked under it nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Polk showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Polk has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
