Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michale Chang (ranked 24554 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gumby Chewass (ranked 4759 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michale Chang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gumby Chewass!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chewass fails with a takedown attempt.
Chang throws a counter high kick but Chewass was just alert enough to avoid it.

Chang manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Chewass on his heels. He'll look to pass Chewass's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chang stands up over Chewass, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Chang is standing up over Chewass. Chewass looks to escape but Chang dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chewass wants to get back to his feet but Chang drags him back down.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chewass can do anything to dispel that myth.

Chang decides to stand back up. Chang steps back and let's Chewass get back to his feet.

Chewass closes this distance looking for a takedown but Chang circles away.
Chewass is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Chewass looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chang is fending him off so far but Chewass persists. Nope, Chang circles away and we're back to standing.

Chewass throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Chewass stops Chang from standing up.
Chang is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Chang decides to return to a standing position.
Chewass tries for a takedown but Chang sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Chewass misses with a takedown attempt - Chang sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Chewass tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chang was well out of range. Poor timing from Chewass.

Chewass moves in looking to clinch but Chang pushes him off.

Chewass tries to score with a low kick but Chang moves his leg out of the way.
It looked like Chang was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Chang shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Chewass napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Chewass throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Changs head.

Chang jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Chewass walks away with a smile on his face. Chang gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Chewass shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chang sprawls well. Chang wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chewass gets slowly back to his feet.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Chang has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Chewass after a bit of a struggle.
Chewass keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Chang's efforts to push away.

Gumby Chewass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Michale Chang is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Chewass tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Chang avoids it.

Michale Chang showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Chang has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
