Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Koah Nine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Archie Clay!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Francis DeMontford and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body kick from Clay.
Nine throws a push kick but Clay slaps the foot to one side.
Clay circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nine slips a jab from Clay.
Nine tries to score with a low kick but Clay moves his leg out of the way.
Clay dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Nine. That did some damage!
Clay rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Nine counters with a series of strikes. Clay will be more careful next time no doubt.
Clay buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Clay's coach down at CrossFit Sydney was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Clay's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Clay lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nine at a distance.
Nine with a lazy takedown attempt
and Clay counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Clay counters with a nice leg kick.
Nine closes this distance looking for a takedown but Clay circles away.
Clay wants to counter with a clinch but Nine pushes him away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Clay takes a swing at Nine's ribcage but misses.
Clay fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Clay throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Clay thumps Nine with a low kick.
Nine chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Clay can pounce on him.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nine looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Clay drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Clay is chipping away with strikes.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clay happy to just control the position for now.
Nine knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Clay on the ground.
Nine is not content to let Clay control the position.

Clay tries for a kimura but Nine is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Nine's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Clay lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Nine down.
Nine is trying to control Clay's posture but Clay avoids it.

Clay is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Nine is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Clay has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Nine!

Clay in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Nine wants to hold on but Clay pushes him away.

Clay is working for a guillotine from mount but Nine frees his head quite easily.
Clay content just to control the position here.
Clay lands a couple of good shots and Nine has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Nine is trying to get back to his feet but Clay has full control of the position and if anything, Nine has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Clay is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Nine looking very determined here, making life difficult for Clay.

Clay has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Clay tries to get the hooks in deep but Nine pushed the leg off.
Clay just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Nine wants to control his opponent's hands but Clay gets his hands free.
Clay is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Nine. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Well, with Clay on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Nine is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Clay lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Nine hold on?!
Clay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Clay is looking to control Nine but Nine is wriggling around and keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nine shoots in for a double leg but Clay sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nine shoots for a takedown but Clay saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nine steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Clay. That one must have hurt.
Nine has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Nine there as he acknowledges the shot.

Koah Nine is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Clay misses with a left hand
and Nine counters with a three punch combo that has Clay backing up. Clay nods at Nine to acknowledge the strikes.
That kick from Clay tenderised Nine's leg. Nine is trying to keep his angry face on.
Clay throws a jab but it's blocked by Nine.
Clay slaps away a takedown attempt from Nine, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Clay thinks about the counter body kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Koah Nine. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Clay shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nine manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Nine scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Clay throws a leg kick which misses Nine's front leg but catches the back leg as Nine tries to avoid it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Clay.
Clay tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nine was well out of range. Poor timing from Clay.
Nine fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Clay shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nine napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Clay lands a big shot there that rocks Nine but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The referee warns Nine that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Clay in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Nine is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
