The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Darley tries to sprawl but VanDam drives through with a takedown into half guard.
VanDam keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
VanDam thows a huge punch but Darley dodges it nicely.

VanDam is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. VanDam connects with a nice short shot to Darley's temple.
VanDam trying to mount his opponent but Darley defends it.
VanDam is taking a breather. Darley says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
VanDam could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Darley is looking for a sweep. VanDam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

VanDam has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Darley defend it? VanDam steps over the head and cranks it - Darley is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for VanDam!
