Bayushi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Scorpions - Always Somewhere. Xavier Merlin is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Xavier Merlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shoju Bayushi!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bayushi scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Bayushi throws a body shot but no joy.
Merlin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bayushi walks into a stiff left hand from Merlin.
Bayushi takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Bayushi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Merlin ducks under a wild hook from Bayushi.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Merlin misses with a few strikes there.
Merlin shoots in for a takedown but Bayushi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bayushi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Merlin moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bayushi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Merlin.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xavier Merlin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Merlin tries to clinch there but Bayushi circles away.
Bayushi misses with a body shot.
Xavier Merlin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Merlin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bayushi but Bayushi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Merlin darts in looking for a takedown but Bayushi gets double underhooks and turns Merlin into the cage.

Merlin misses with a looping left.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Merlin!
Merlin lands a nice hook to Bayushi's body. Bayushi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bayushi misses with an uppercut. Merlin saw that one coming.
Merlin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bayushi swivels and escapes.
Merlin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bayushi's waist but Bayushi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Merlin off to one side.
Merlin drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Merlin loads up on a big right hand but Bayushi slips the punch.
Bayushi moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Merlin connects with a looping right hand.
Bayushi blocks a jab.
Bayushi tries to counter with a clinch but Merlin shakes him off and moves away.
Bayushi throws a shot from downtown. Merlin moves away and avoids it.
Merlin tries to move into range but Bayushi moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Merlin dives in and grabs Bayushi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bayushi pushes down on Merlin's head and hops out.
Merlin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bayushi changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Bayushi scores with a sloppy right hand. Merlin should have avoided that one.
Bayushi throws out a loose jab but Merlin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Merlin misses the jab.
Merlin sets himself, and Bayushi steps forward looking for the clinch! Merlin avoids it this time.
Bayushi just misses with a punch to the body.
Merlin connects with the punch.
Merlin missing with a left hand there. Bayushi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bayushi getting the better of the striking in that exchange.


Merlin is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Merlin throws a hook to the side of Bayushi's head but Bayushi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bayushi steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Merlin.
Oh Merlin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bayushi grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Merlin takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Bayushi cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Shoju Bayushi!
Our winner, Shoju Bayushi, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
