The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs scores with a jab to the head.
Briggs connects with a crisp jab.
Mikhailov looks to clinch
and Briggs counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mikhailov takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Mikhailov throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Briggs connects with a body shot that sends Mikhailov's belly button to the back.
Mikhailov tries for a takedown but Briggs circles away easily
and Briggs counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Briggs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Briggs thuds his right hand into Mikhailov's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Briggs tests Mikhailov's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Briggs gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Briggs wants to get back to his feet but Mikhailov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mikhailov tries to free his leg and advance position but Briggs is retaining full guard.
Mikhailov passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Mikhailov misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

The strikes coming from Mikhailov are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Briggs is trying to get back to his feet.
Briggs is looking to get back to his feet here but Mikhailov is keeping cool and he's managed to take Briggs's back.

Mikhailov is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Briggs with him. Briggs is trying to defend but Mikhailov has an arm under the chin now! Briggs grimaces and is forced to tap out!
