Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Avgua Siav Leo Nani!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rory Rothstein!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rothstein throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Leo Nani tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rothstein is in Leo Nani's guard.
Rothstein wants to control from the top but Leo Nani keeps moving.

Rothstein gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Leo Nani shoots in for a double leg but Rothstein sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Leo Nani misses with a takedown

and Rothstein decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Leo Nani's guard.

Leo Nani has his foot on Rothstein's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rothstein works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Leo Nani working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rothstein doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rothstein manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rothstein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Leo Nani. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rothstein wants to pass the guard but Leo Nani is keeping the position.

Rothstein slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Rothstein is sitting in close to Leo Nani's body. Leo Nani has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Rothstein is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Rothstein is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Leo Nani.
