PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Monte Zuma (ranked 661 p4p, 85 weight class) and Dzoko Dzoker (ranked 1936 p4p, 221 weight class). Dzoker has chosen as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Monte Zuma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 35 - 0, fighting out of London, Dzoko Dzoker!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zuma misses with a wild body shot.
Zuma lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

It looks like Dzoko Dzoker has been cut.
Dzoker fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Zuma lands a head kick that stumbles Dzoker and the fighters go to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Zuma passes Dzoker's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Zuma is trying to work for a kimura but Dzoker is defending well.
Dzoker wants to control but Zuma is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Zuma seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Zuma looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dzoker actively working from the bottom here.

Zuma is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dzoker doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Zuma.
Zuma is trying to control the action in half guard but Dzoker is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Dzoker is defending against the submission attempts here by Zuma.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dzoker tries to roll over but Zuma keeps him under control.

Zuma is looking for a kimura but Dzoker is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Zuma to get the leverage.
Dzoker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zuma is working away from the top position though.
Dzoker manages to get to full guard.
Dzoker looking for a sweep. Not yet Dzoker, not yet.

Dzoker is trying to maintain the position but Zuma is very close to passing his half guard.

Zuma seems to be looking for submissions.

Dzoker is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Zuma pulls his head out easily.
Dzoker tries to get to full guard but Zuma has control of the leg.
Dzoker has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dzoker is pressing down on Zuma's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dzoker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Zuma's guard.

Zuma trying to keep a closed guard but Dzoker is proving a slippery customer.
Dzoker scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dzoker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Zuma looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dzoker is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Monte Zuma dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dzoko Dzoker's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Zuma avoids the body shot from Dzoker.
Dzoker fails to land the takedown.
A good leg kick by Zuma.
Zuma throws a big shot that misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dzoker.
Zuma jabs Dzoker right on the nose. Dzoker blinks but takes it well.

That has opened up Dzoko Dzoker's cut even more.
Dzoker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zuma as he jumps to the side.
Monte Zuma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dzoko Dzoker.
Zuma misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dzoker shoots for a double leg takedown but Zuma sprawls well. He's pushed Dzoker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dzoker has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Zuma.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Zuma.
Dzoker is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Zuma misses with a double jab.
Zuma moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Zuma here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Zuma throws a combination that misses

and Dzoker counters with a shoot takedown. Zuma fights it but they end up in guard.
Dzoker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Zuma is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Dzoker frees his head nicely. Oh but Zuma has switched to an armbar! Dzoker is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Monte Zuma!
Monte Zuma decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
In defeat, Dzoko Dzoker stepped up to the mic, saying 'thanks my sponsors and fans'.
