Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Gould (ranked 24851 p4p, 0 weight class) and DeShaun Lawrence (ranked 4822 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lawrence shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gould is trying to defend but Lawrence finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Gould has his foot on Lawrence's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lawrence works his way back into a safe position though.

DeShaun Lawrence seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lawrence shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gould manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lawrence must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Gould seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lawrence for as long as he can get away with.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

As Lawrence tries to get set, Gould tries to push him back and clinch up but Lawrence manages to avoid the attempt.

That was a close round but I would say that Miguel Gould will probably get the nod.

Lawrence manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gould on his heels. He'll look to pass Gould's guard now, I'm sure.

Lawrence throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Gould escapes and throws Lawrence's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Gould thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gould has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lawrence finds it's way round the side to connect with Gould's head.

Gould closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Miguel Gould overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gould in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gould is nestled in close to Lawrence, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Lawrence has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gould is working away from the top position though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Miguel Gould.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gould, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
