Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wilton Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Requis Bently!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bishop drives through with a takedown into Bently's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Bently has his foot on Bishop's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bishop works his way back into a safe position though.

Bently is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bently blocks an elbow strike from Bishop.

Bently breaks the clinch.

Bishop fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bently, pushing him back against the cage.

Bishop has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Bently pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Bently lands a takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bently is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bishop will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Bishop keeping full guard, as Bently tries to pass.

Bishop looking for a guillotine here but Bently defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bishop bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bently struggling a bit here.
Bently isn't going anywhere.

Bently is pressing down on Bishop's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bishop is holding on for now.
Bently is trying to control the action in half guard but Bishop is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Bishop is looking to control Bently's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bishop avoid being mounted?
Bently looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Bishop or perhaps it was just good defense by Bently, which made it look bad.
Bently misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bishop swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
We've been informed that Bently has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Bently closes the distance and clinches.
Bishop misses with a knee strike.
Bishop looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Bishop drives through with a takedown into Bently's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Bently looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bently looking to control but Bishop passes into half guard.
Bently wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bently on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

A close second round but Requis Bently will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Bishop will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bently throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bishop tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bently is in Bishop's guard.
Bishop is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bishop throwing shots but Bently is blocking nicely.

Bishop decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Requis Bently seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bishop tries to clinch but Bently is having none of it.

Bently darts in and clinches Bishop up against the cage.

Bishop breaks from the clinch.
Bently takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bishop dives in and grabs Bently's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bently pushes down on Bishop's head and hops out.
Bently raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Bishop lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Bently fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bishop, pushing him back against the cage.
Bishop has Bently pushed against the cage.
Bishop has a couple of punches blocked by Bently.
Bishop looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Bently gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Bently drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bishop manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bently has Bishop in his guard.


Bishop stands and steps away. Bently gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bishop is looking to clinch.

Bishop feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bently wants to get back to his feet but Bishop passes into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bishop is thwarting Bently's attempts to control the position.

Bishop is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Bishop keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Bently is looking for a sweep. Bishop is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bishop really is a fat lump.

Bishop is looking for a kimura but Bently is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bishop to get the leverage.
Bently is staying active underneath Bishop, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bishop looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bently has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bishop is working away from the top position though.

Bishop escapes and gets back to his feet.
Bishop tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bently was well out of range. Poor timing from Bishop.
Bishop shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bently pinned against the cage. Bently gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Wilton Bishop showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bishop has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
