PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tristan Finch (ranked 3361 p4p, 370 weight class) and Harem Baban (ranked 6519 p4p, 545 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tristan Finch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Harem Baban!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baban tries to clinch but Finch is having none of it.
Baban tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Finch swivels and escapes.
Nice takedown defense from Finch. No joy for Baban on that attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Baban enables Finch to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Baban manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Finch stays in close to Baban's body and controls the position.

Finch drops back looking for a leg! Baban is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Baban manages to kick Finch off! Finch jumps back into Baban's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Finch with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baban can't keep his opponent in guard - Finch advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Baban works his way to full guard. Good work.

Finch drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Finch jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Finch could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Finch prevents Baban from getting back to his feet.
Finch is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Finch decides to stand up, so the ref orders Baban to his feet.

Finch shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Finch showed some decent athleticism there.
Baban wants to stand back up but Finch manages to pass into side control.

Finch in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Baban is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
