Mike Pointek has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Brett McCurley's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pointek throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McCurley looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Pointek tries to clinch there but McCurley circles away.
McCurley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pointek is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
McCurley tries to clinch up but Pointek circles away and keeps his distance.

and Pointek counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
McCurley tries to roll over but Pointek keeps him under control.

McCurley is rocked!
Pointek is tying to control. McCurley wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Oh McCurley is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Pointek is looking for a kimura here.
Pointek winds up and cracks McCurley with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McCurley tries to roll over but Pointek keeps him under control.
McCurley seems to have got his legs back now.
Pointek is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Pointek passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for McCurley!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pointek looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Pointek wants to control the pace but McCurley is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McCurley is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pointek's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pointek's back!

McCurley is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Pointek is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. McCurley locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Pointek is forced to tap!
